How does the color red make you feel?
Red makes me feeeeeel powerful. Graceful. In tune. Sexy.
Why does the color get so demonized? Red has many meanings that often contradict each other. I would assume wearing it would create that same effect causing people to not know how to react or to react in ways they aren’t used to.
When researching I discovered a study called the “red effect”. This study talks about the psychological effect of the color, and it essentially attracts more attention because of the perceived sexual receptivity it brings.
…So, the color red makes people more drawn to you on a sexual level. Women that wear this color are deemed dangerous and seductive, which aligns with the taboo nature often associated with sexuality.
Soooo why do I say all of this?
Red is more than just a color; it’s an activator to all the senses. It makes us double take and asks us the question “what are your deepest desires?”. Think devil, love, and blood. All three of these things ignite something primal in us. When you strip all the negative connotation of the term ‘Devil’ you have the meaning of power, individual freedom, and growing beyond your own limitations. For love, you feel something so deeply that can barely be explained by the rest of the world that makes you think beyond yourself. When you see blood especially on yourself, it puts you in a state of protection not only for your own livelihood but others as well.
The color that is a representation of the root chakra. Your root is the source to all your decision making and is incredibly powerful. So why have us think negatively of this beautiful color? So, we don’t own our power and shy away from the dominance we should have over our lives? Hmmm.
I say no to all the nonsense and choose to give red it’s flowers. Wear red more. Embrace red more. Red is inside of us. We are red. Red is us. So, next night out go for that red dress and observe how your night goes.
